After lens replacements, "cataract surgery," my neural adaption to the new lenses created many challenges.

Even though the surgery went perfectly, and my vision was technically better than perfect at 20/15, my brain had difficulty "working with" the new clarity and contrast of the lenses. I suffered from flickering or shimmering in my peripheral vision, unwanted rapid eye movement and a sense that my vision was not my own--like everything seemed to be showing up in my mind as if through a camera. None of the ophthalmologist I was working with knew what to do. They kept telling me I would "get over it."

But after searching with ChatGPT, I learned that patients like me with extremely highly developed visual acuity and visual processing skills, will suffer from far more difficult and protracted adaption phases. We are in the small minority, but nonetheless a well documented medical subset who need special help, guidance and care.

I found this clinic and the superb Doctor who runs it, who has begun treatment (aka rehab) and I'm expecting excellent results based on what I've seen thus far.

Dr. Truong is kind, compassionate, patient, and incredibly understanding. My youngest daughter is transitioning out of Ortho-K, and the attention Dr. Truong gives to both her care and comfort has been wonderful. She knows how to connect with both of my daughters, listens to their concerns, and makes them feel completely at ease.

I rely on my prescription glasses every day for work. During a walk, I accidentally dropped them, leaving them completely unusable, so I needed help urgently.

On a Saturday, I arrived at Woodbury Family Optometry about 30 minutes before closing. The office felt clean, bright with plenty of natural light, and welcoming. The staff greeted me warmly.

Giovanni listened carefully as I explained what had happened, examined my glasses, clearly explained the problem, and adjusted them on the spot. After the repair, my glasses fit properly again, and I could get back to work.

Even though I arrived shortly before closing, the team never made me feel rushed. They remained attentive, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout the visit. I truly appreciated the excellent service and would gladly return if I ever need eye care again.
